Bonavista, Newfoundland

We arrived in Bonavista late evening. I was a bit grumpy because all decent places to eat were closed for the season. Our room was in a fairly dumpy motel that we self checked into. When we started moving in the morning and arrived at the Bonavista lighthouse, I realized why it was recommended. The lighthouse was built in 1843 and is now a museum that was closed. The rocky cliffs displayed how millions of years ago the continents collided and smashed the rocks into their current topsy-turvy position. Bonavista is one of the windiest places in Canada and the seas were wild!

Dungeon Provincial Park was on a gravel road through grassland still used for open community pasture. The ocean has eroded rock to the point that it formed a cave. That cave roof eroded until the roof collapsed forming a dungeon. The views of course, were magnificent.
