Colonial Historical National Park is situated between the York and James River. It has so much history and nature to see, that you could spend many days. We did it in one. York is a cool little town and I actually liked it better than Williamsburg, which I have heard so much about. It had a few unique little shops, it was on the water, and you could stop about anywhere and read about the past. From there, we wondered into Williamsburg and walked through the colonial village where re-enactments of the old times take place. Following the park road leads you to Jamestown where there is an archeological dig of the original colony. It was late and fairly expensive so we did not go into the dig. We did enjoy the nature there and saw this owl up close and a couple of bald eagles(golf balls) from afar.
