4/25/23 We idled down Interstate 81 in Virginia toward our destination when we got hungry and happened on Hungry Mother State Park. We kept driving by pretty purple blooming trees which we did not realize were red bud trees. They are 10 times the size of our Texas varieties !
This park is one of the first six named state parks in Virginia. We did not hike around the whole lake, but it is about 4 miles. There was a swimming beach and non motorized boats that I am sure get heavy use in the summer.
