We like to visit lighthouses and were headed to Owls Head when we happened on Birchpoint. There seems to be a lot of Maine state parks and everyone we visited, although all coastal, were unique. We had fun walking over the rocks and relaxing in the scenery here and there. We accidentally climbed out of the park onto private property. We enjoyed peaking into one room cabins with glass views of the ocean and claw foot tubs inside. I am thankful for free views in the park.
We drove out of the park and onto the lighthouse. It was built in the 1800s and was tended by various families or individuals and ultimately was automated in 1989.
