Quebec

10/23 We drove back from Nova Scotia across New Brunswick into Quebec. We stayed in Rivière-de-Loup on the St. Lawrence River and followed it along to Quebec City the next day. I received a speeding ticket in a small town on the way. The hardest part was figuring out how to pay it when the ticket was in very small print in French. I called the number listed, and was transferred to someone who spoke English and happily took my money. Quebec City is a quaint place. We enjoyed walking up the narrow streets and viewing all the old buildings and the St. Lawrence . The building at the top is the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. We also visited the Parc de La Chute-Montmorencye where there is a 272 foot waterfall with many walkways and a nice hotel.

We spent the night and part of the next day in Montreal. Obviously, we only saw a small portion of the city of 1.8 million. We enjoyed the historic district and waterfront. We did tour Norte-Dame De Montreal built from 1823-1856. We laughed at ourselves because we refused to take a picture of a family of four. The lady at the desk told us that people asked for their picture and then would pick pocket you while you were distracted. I do believe these folks were a nice family that wanted their picture taken.
